But if you want to access them on your mobile device, you must first transfer them to your iPhone or iPad using iTunes for Windows.
Apple’s iTunes is a media and device management software used to sync content with iPhone , iPad, and iPod touch over a wired or wireless connection. It’s something Apple PC users have become accustomed to over time, although the app is no longer used on the Mac.
Want to find out how to sync photos from Windows to iPhone or iPad so you can try it out for yourself on your iOS device? Perfect, because in this article we’ll detail exactly how to transfer photos from a Windows PC to your iPhone or iPad.
Remember, this is about transferring pictures from a Windows PC to an iPhone or iPad, not the other way around. If you want to know how to transfer photos from iPhone to Windows 10 for PC, you can read that here, which uses a different process that doesn’t require iTunes.
How to Transfer Photos from a Windows PC to an iPhone or iPad Using iTunes
If you have never synced your device with iTunes before, you will not be able to take advantage of the iTunes Wi-Fi sync feature and will instead have to rely on a wired connection. First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer before proceeding with the procedure. Now let’s look at the necessary steps.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Windows computer using the included USB-Lightning cable and open iTunes on your computer.
- Click on the iPhone or iPad icon located right next to the Music tab as shown in the screenshot below.
- Now go to the “Photos” section under “Settings” in the left pane and check the box to the right of “Sync Photos”.
- Here you will notice that iTunes will show a folder from which it will copy photos. If your photos are not stored in this location, simply click on the folder name and select “Select Folder”. This will open Windows Explorer.
- Select the location where the photos you want to transfer are stored and click “Select Folder”. Now, just click “Apply” in iTunes as shown below.
- Now iTunes will start the syncing process and begin backing up the data on your iPhone. Depending on the number of photos and storage space on the device, it may take a few minutes for the sync to complete.
That’s pretty much all the syncing process has to offer.
Now when you open the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad, you can access all the photos you’ve synced.
This means that using a wired connection to transfer content between your iOS and iPadOS device and PC is gradually becoming a thing of the past.
If you don’t want to rely on your USB to Lightning cable to transfer content, you can enable Wi-Fi syncing in iTunes to sync data wirelessly. However, for this to work, both your PC and iPhone/iPad must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
With services like iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive, you no longer need to use iTunes to transfer photos and videos.
If you have iCloud set up on your Windows PC, you can easily sync all your locally stored photos to iCloud and access them in seconds on any Apple device signed in to the same iCloud account. On the other hand, if you use a Mac, your photos will automatically sync to your iPhone and iPad with iCloud.
